Young’s operate one of London’s favourite chains of pubs with distinctive names like The Windmill on the Common, The Spotted Horse and the Pig and Whistle.  Their properties extend across the South of England as far as Devon and many of these include hotels.  Welcome Computers have supplied systems for the hotels since 1990 with the launch of the Bridge Hotel in Greenford. 

In 2007 Young’s completed the sale of the Ram Brewery in Wandsworth, where beer was brewed since Elizabethan times.  To brew their famous beer they teamed up with Charles Wells of Bedford and this allowed them to follow a corporate policy of focussing on the development of their pubs and hotels and, of course the heart of any successful business, the people who work there. 

When the hotels needed to extend and enhance their computer systems, it was these people who insisted that Welcome should fit the bill.  Over the past 18 years both companies have been fortunate in keeping and advancing their key staff so there is now an efficient working relationship.

The new installations include links to the till systems in each bar and dining room so that daily business reports can be fully consolidated.  Each site can now offer real time on-line bookings via the internet or the central office, with rates and packages also controlled in real time. 

Secure credit card transactions are handled through the Welcome Secure system with a careful eye on data security, which matches the strict Payment Card Industry standard.  The whole network is managed and supervised across Young’s estate from their smart new head office overlooking the Thames close to Putney Bridge.

Welcome’s projects team have worked closely with the Information Systems team at Young’s over the past few months to complete the upgrade of 12 hotels, so far.  Andrew Maynard, Young’s IS manager has kept a close eye on progress and collected feedback from management and staff at each stage.
